The Eagles take down the Cougars for the second time this week! Columbia wins over Breese Central 8-4 and moves to 10-11 overall, and importantly, the Eagles are now 5-3 in the conference, which moves them into a tie with Roxana for 2nd place in the conference, who lost to Salem today. Up next, the Eagles continue conference play with two games against Salem next week Tuesday and Thursday.

Senior Night complete game shutout!!! Emily Webb went the distance today and the Eagles had 1 run cross the plate in the bottom of the 6th and that's all they needed. Eagles win 1-0. Columbia moves to 14-7 on the season and are in sole possession of 2nd place in the Cahokia Conference. Up next for Columbia is a doubleheader Saturday at Centralia.

Mr. Martin put in a fine day’s work as Principal for the Day at Eagleview, an experience his family won from the Columbia PTA’s Trivia Night Silent/Online Auction. He was an excellent assistant to Mrs. Venne and said this was the best day of this life! Mr. Martin helped lead Morning Meeting, visited classrooms, supervised lunch and recess, supported in the office, enjoyed some Imo’s for lunch, and helped run bus transfer at dismissal. Mr. Martin learned some truths today that every principal quickly discovers. 1. Smiles, high-fives, and hugs are where it’s at! 2. Everyone loves a good joke, especially on Jokes and Jump Rope Day! 3. You stay VERY busy as a principal, and plans often change. 4. It’s important to stay hydrated. 5. Principals don’t eat lunch until everyone else has, and they sometimes don’t eat until after school (Mr. Martin ate after the grade-level lunches, and Mrs. Venne ate after school. 🤣) 6. We love a lunch delivery, especially when it comes with some Ted Drewes! 7. Always take good care of your office staff. 8. No matter how nicely you are dressed, you WILL get red sauce or chocolate on your shirt. Thanks for all of your help today, Mr. Martin! You were an outstanding principal for the day!
